Ingredients
– 2 pounds salmon fillets
– 3 tablespoons olive oil
– 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
– 2 tablespoons brown sugar
– 3 cloves garlic
– 1 tablespoon sriracha
– 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
– 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
– ½ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
– Salt and pepper
– Minced fresh chives, dill, green onions, or sesame seeds
Instructions
1-First Step: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking. This will ensure easy cleanup and help your salmon cook evenly.
2-Second Step: In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of olive oil, soy sauce or tamari, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, sriracha, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), freshly grated ginger, and cayenne pepper (if using). Taste and adjust the sauce to your spice and sweetness preferences. This marinade forms the bold, spicy-sweet base for your firecracker salmon.
3-Third Step: Season the salmon fillets lightly with salt and pepper. Place them skin-side down if your fillets have skin, in a single layer in a shallow baking dish or skillet. Pour the marinade evenly over the fillets, making sure each is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour to let the flavors penetrate. If short on time, simply brush the marinade over the salmon just before cooking.
4-Fourth Step: Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and pat the fillets dry lightly to help achieve a nice crust. Sear each side of the salmon for 3 minutes until a flavorful crust forms, being careful not to overcook.
5-Fifth Step: Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and let it thicken slightly. Optionally, transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 9 to 15 minutes depending on the thickness, occasionally spooning the sauce over the fillets to enhance flavor and glaze. Alternatively, bake on a foil-lined pan at 425°F (220°C) for 14 to 17 minutes. Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork.
6-Final Step: Remove the salmon from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes to redistribute the juices, ensuring tender, moist fillets. Serve garnished with minced fresh chives, dill, green onions, or sesame seeds for bright, fresh contrast. Pair with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

🔥 Do not marinate salmon longer than 1 hour to prevent mushy texture.
🍳 Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent steaming; cook in batches if necessary.
🔪 If salmon sticks to the pan, wait until it releases naturally before flipping.
