As fall approaches and evenings grow dark earlier, the craft table has taken over the dining room again. Besides lattes, making something for a best friend is one of my favorite fall activities.

During an October sleepover, we cut paper until 2 a.m., and glitter from that session is still in the carpet.

Pinterest offers many scrapbook ideas for friends and BFF albums, but most look alike, so I keep a running list of scrapbook ideas in a notes app.

Each winter, we vote on the best page over snacks, with a gift card or a gift basket of pretty supplies as the prize. That shared ritual keeps the ideas fresh.

SCRAPBOOK IDEAS FOR BESTIE

These twenty ideas cover timelines, jokes, photos, tickets, letters, and plans, so you can mix a few favorites or build a whole album from them. Each one uses ordinary keepsakes and simple pages, and each one leaves room for your own photos, words, and memories.

  • Timelines that mark the year you met
  • Inside jokes only the two of you understand
  • Photo booth strips and Polaroid grids
  • Ticket stubs and concert keepsakes
  • Handwritten letters in paper pockets
  • Bucket lists and future plans to check off

1. Friendship Timeline Spread

A friendship timeline spread turns the years you have spent together into one clear story on a single spread. Mark the year you met and every big moment after that, because small moments count too.

Place a photo from the first year at the top, and use a hand drawn arrow to tie the years together. The same layout also works for a newborn story, since any story that needs a beginning fits this shape.

2. Inside Jokes Page

An inside jokes page is meant to be understood only by the two of you, which is exactly the point. Write down every silly phrase you repeat, and ten of them will fill a page quickly.

Half of my own inside jokes came from a rude waitress at a diner, and no one except my friend needs the context. My friend cried laughing when she read ours, and that reaction is the best test of the page.

3. Matching Photo Booth Strips

A photo booth strip is a staple of a bestie album, and it brings instant energy to a page. My mall had a machine by the food court, and that ordinary spot produced some of our favorite shots.

Print two strips so each friend keeps one, tape yours down the side of the page, and use four strips for a nice border. Four goofy faces are my favorite part of the pictured shot, and one serious pose is enough.

4. Reasons You Are My Bestie List

A numbered list of twenty reasons your friend is your bestie reads like a countdown, and it feels personal from the first line. Twenty reasons may seem like many, but I finished the list in one evening while sitting on the couch.

Use a fine tipped pen for neat writing, number each entry, and save the sweetest reason for the very last spot. That final line lands with extra warmth.

5. Concert Memory Page

A concert memory page preserves the small items from a shared show in one place. Tape the wristband flat beside the ticket, and add the setlist if you wrote it down during the show.

Use a crowd photo as the background, because it captures the scale and excitement of the night. Even a blurry stage photo can work well here, since it feels honest and full of movement.

6. Road Trip Map Spread

For a road trip spread, start with a folded road map and cut out only the section you actually drove through. Gas station maps can be found free at flea markets, which makes this spread easy to start.

Mark each gas station stop with a tiny dot, and note detours along the way. A stop at a giant cow statue is exactly the kind of detour worth marking, because it turns a route into a story.

7. Matching Bracelet Keepsake Pocket

Old friendship bracelets that no longer fit still deserve a place, especially when the knots are too tight to cut off. Sew a small pocket from clear plastic and slip a bracelet inside, or use a little zip bag for the same job.

The example photo shows a braided pink bracelet made at summer camp, and that detail makes the pocket feel personal. Keep the pocket visible so the keepsake stays part of the story.

8. Screenshot Chat Collage

Print the funniest screenshots from the group chat, since that is where most memories live. Trim off the timestamps, and look for the best ones from two in the morning.

Voice note transcripts can also be included, and pastel chat bubbles give the page a clean look. Keep messages short so the page stays readable, and blur out anything private before printing. That care keeps the humor fun and safe to share.

9. Bucket List Together Page

For friends who love making plans, write down everything you still want to do together, including cheap plans. Leave a small box beside each line to check off, so progress feels satisfying as the list fills.

A hot air balloon ride was crossed off last April, with tickets costing 90 dollars each. One example has twenty two lines, and a half filled list is motivating because it shows what is still ahead.

10. Polaroid Grid Of Us

Arrange photos in neat rows like a stamp album, with the same gap between each one. Nine photos fit on a standard page, while twelve looks crowded, so nine is the calmer choice.

Cheap scrapbook frame ideas work better than fancy ones, and a thrift store frame cost 4 dollars. That simple framing keeps attention on the faces and moments, not on the frame itself. Consistency makes the grid feel polished.

11. Ticket Stub Collection

Crumpled ticket stubs collect in coat pockets and the laundry basket, but they do not need to be thrown out. Reuse them on the page, overlapping the edges so nothing looks too planned.

Movie tickets and train stubs sit well together, and concert stubs are the prettiest of all. Writing a date in pen saves you later, when the details of a trip start to blur. That small note turns scraps into a timeline.

12. Handwritten Letter Pocket

Handwritten notes are more personal than printed fonts, and even messy handwriting is fine. Glue a paper pocket onto the page and place a folded letter inside. The letter can be written now and read later, as the author’s stayed sealed for a year.

A wax seal makes a pretty finishing touch, and sealing wax kits cost about 8 dollars. That sealed pocket adds anticipation to the page.

13. Favorite Songs Playlist Page

Create a page listing the songs you and your best friend sing in the car. Add album covers if there is room, and draw a small cassette at the top as a finishing touch.

The author’s own playlist would embarrass them both, because every song is from middle school. That shared embarrassment is part of the charm, and it makes the page instantly recognizable to both friends.

14. First Meeting Story Page

Write the story of the day you met in your own words, with the details only you remember. The same setup also works for relationship scrapbook ideas, because a first meeting story fits many albums.

The author’s story begins with a math class and a broken pencil, and neither person remembers the teacher’s name. A tiny date stamp is a nice detail, and stamps like that cost a few dollars.

15. Food Dates Collage

Keep a running list of cafes you still want to try, and save menus and receipts from every visit. Napkins with a logo also work, and they add color and texture to the page.

Place a receipt next to each food photo, so each meal has a date, a place, and a memory attached. Photograph the food before eating it, so the page captures the meal at its best.

16. Matching Sticker Page

Buy two sticker sheets so each person decorates a page, similar to covering a laptop lid with trip stickers. A six pack costs roughly 5 dollars on Amazon, which makes this an easy shared project.

Cluster stickers tightly in one corner rather than spreading them out, and use odd numbers since they sit better than even ones. Clear stickers layer better than paper ones, so they work well for overlapping designs.

17. Birthday Memory Spread

If you do not want to keep whole birthday cards, cut one line from each card instead. Keep the funniest signature as well, because it often captures the sender’s humor best.

Add a photo of the cake with the year written underneath, so the celebration stays dated and clear. The candles can be placed on the page too, adding a festive detail to the spread.

18. Future Plans Vision Page

A vision page can hold more than goals, so fill it with the apartments and trips you discuss. Old magazines are the best source for clippings, and they give the page color and variety.

This type of page drifts into romantic scrapbook ideas territory, but it still belongs in a friendship album. Old magazine issues can be found in places like a dentist waiting room, which makes gathering clippings easy.

19. Mini Envelope With Notes

Recreate tiny envelopes, which resemble seed packets, and slip a short note inside each one. One envelope per year of friendship is a sweet setup, and it gives the page a clear rhythm.

Anything too bulky to lie flat goes in the envelope, keeping the page neat while preserving the keepsake. Little wax dots hold the envelopes shut, and they add a finished detail.

20. Photo Flip Fold-Out

This final idea is a fold out flip that recreates the surprise of lifting a flap in a pop up book. Fold a strip into thirds and glue down only the back panel, so the front sections stay free to lift.

Trim the edges once the glue has dried, for a clean finish that opens smoothly. The hidden space underneath can hold the least flattering photos of the two of you, which makes the reveal fun.
