🥦 Enjoy a delicious, nutritious meal packed with the goodness of broccoli and the richness of cheese.
🥦 Perfect for brunch or dinner, this quiche is easy to make with a premade crust for added convenience.

  • Total Time: 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

– 2 cups fresh broccoli florets

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

– 3 large eggs

– 1 cup milk or cream

– 1 pre-made 9-inch deep-dish pie crust

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1-Preheat Your Oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.

2-Prepare the Vegetables: Wash and chop 2 cups of fresh broccoli into bite-sized florets. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat, then add the broccoli, 1 small finely chopped onion, and 1 teaspoon minced garlic. Cook with occasional stirring until vegetables are tender but not browned.

3-Prepare the Pie Crust: Roll out your premade 9-inch deep-dish pie crust into a pie dish, pressing firmly to fit evenly. Trim any excess edges and prick the crust base with a fork to prevent bubbling during baking.

4-Layer the Filling: Spoon the cooked broccoli mixture evenly into the pie crust. Sprinkle 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the broccoli layer.

5-Mix the Egg Custard: In a bowl, whisk together 4 large well-beaten eggs, 1½ cups milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based), 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste), and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon melted butter.

6-Assemble and Bake: Pour the egg mixture over the broccoli and cheese filling in the crust, spreading gently to distribute evenly. Place the quiche on a baking sheet.

7-Bake: Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the custard is set and no longer jiggly in the center and the crust is golden brown.

8-Rest and Serve: Let the quiche cool for about 10 minutes before slicing to allow the filling to set further. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

🥚 For a crispier crust, pre-bake (blind bake) the pie shell with parchment paper and pie weights for 12 minutes at 375°F (190°C), then remove weights and bake an additional 10 minutes before adding the filling.
🥦 Cooking vegetables until just tender avoids a soggy crust and enhances flavor; optionally sauté or bake broccoli before assembling.
🧀 Mixing cheeses such as cheddar, mozzarella, feta, or goat cheese can add unique taste profiles.
