🍠 This Southern Sweet Potato Pie offers classic homemade flavor with a creamy, rich filling made from fresh sweet potatoes.
🥧 Perfect for celebrations or comforting dessert, it brings a sweet, smooth texture that everyone will love.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

3 medium sweet potatoes (390 g) for creamy base and natural sweetness

1/2 cup butter (113 g) for richness and smooth texture

1 cup granulated sugar (198 g) to balance flavors and add sweetness

2 teaspoons vanilla extract (9 g) for warm, aromatic depth

2 large beaten eggs (100 g) to help bind ingredients

1/2 cup whole or evaporated milk (114 g) for moisture and creaminess

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust as flaky foundation

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven: to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.

2-Wash and peel your 3 medium sweet potatoes (390 g), then boil them until soft before mashing them smooth for the base of your pie.

3-Combine the mashed sweet potatoes with 1/2 cup butter (113 g) that’s been melted, 1 cup granulated sugar (198 g), 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (9 g), 2 large beaten eggs (100 g), and 1/2 cup whole or evaporated milk (114 g) in a large mixing bowl. Stir everything together until you get a smooth, even mixture that smells irresistible.

4-Take your unbaked 9-inch pie crust and gently press it into a pie pan, making sure it’s evenly distributed. Pour the sweet potato filling into the crust, spreading it out for a uniform look.

5-Slide the pie into the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the pie cool on a wire rack to set properly, which helps avoid any mess when slicing.

6-Once cooled, serve your sweet potato pie at room temperature or chilled, and don’t forget to add those optional toppings like whipped cream or marshmallow fluff for a fun twist.
