Ingredients
– 2 to 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour or bread flour (250-295 grams), divided
– 1 packet instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
– 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
– ¾ teaspoon salt
– ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon garlic powder and/or dried basil leaves (optional)
– 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus additional for brushing
– ¾ cup warm water (175 ml), ideally between 105-115°F (40-46°C)
Instructions
1-In a large bowl, combine 1 cup (125 grams) of the flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, and optional garlic powder and dried basil.
2-Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and ¾ cup (175 ml) of warm water; stir well with a wooden spoon.
3-Gradually incorporate another cup of flour, and up to an additional ⅓ cup (up to 295 grams total), until the dough forms a cohesive, elastic ball that pulls away from the bowl sides. The dough will be slightly sticky but manageable.
4-Drizzle a large clean bowl with olive oil and brush it evenly.
5-Lightly flour your hands, shape the dough into a round ball, transfer it to the oiled bowl, roll it around to coat in oil, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and place in a warm spot.
6-Allow the dough to rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
7-Preheat the oven to 425°F (215°C) during the rising time.
8-After rising, gently deflate the dough, transfer it to a floured surface, and knead briefly (3-5 times).
9-Shape the dough into a 12-inch circle using your hands or a rolling pin.
10-Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined pizza pan; pinch or fold the edges to form a crust.
11-Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil on top and brush it over the entire surface, including the crust.
12-Poke holes in the center with a fork to prevent bubbles during baking.
13-Add desired toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes, until the toppings are golden brown.
14-Slice and serve.

🌾 All-purpose flour creates a softer crust, while bread flour results in a crispier texture.
🌡️ Use water between 105-115°F (40-46°C) to avoid killing the yeast and encourage proper rising.
⏳ Minimal kneading after rising (3-5 brief kneads) helps maintain a tender crust.
