🐧 Adorable penguin Oreo treats – no-bake 30-min kid craft, festive holiday table cute overload!
🍪 Black-white cookie bodies wings, candy eyes hearts; theme-swap sprinkles fun anytime!

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 12 penguins

Ingredients

– Chocolate sandwich cookies for body

– small handful white candy melts for glue and white belly

– 2 per cookie small candy eyeballs

– 1 for beak and 2 upside-down for feet per cookie small heart sprinkles

– extra chocolate sandwich cookies for wings

Instructions

1-Step One: Prepare Your Cookie Base Begin by separating your chocolate sandwich cookies. Gently twist each cookie apart to separate the two halves. You’ll notice the creamy filling sticks to one side. Using a butter knife or spoon, carefully scrape off and discard the white filling. This leaves you with clean, dark cookie halves that will serve as the penguin’s body. Place these halves on a clean work surface or parchment paper. This step is perfect for kids to help with. The filling comes off easily, and little hands love the twisting action. Save any broken pieces for snacking. This no-bake approach keeps cleanup simple since there are no bowls or baking sheets to wash.

2-Step Two: Create the Wings If you want to add wings to your Oreo penguins, lay one cookie half on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice pieces off the outer edge of the cookie. Cut three thin slices from the curved edge of each cookie half. Then, cut each slice in half lengthwise. This gives you six small wing pieces from each cookie half. Work slowly and gently when cutting. Chocolate sandwich cookies can be delicate, and some pieces may break. Don’t worry if this happens. Those broken bits make a delicious snack for eager helpers. You can make extra wings in case some don’t turn out perfectly. For a simpler version, feel free to skip the wings entirely. Your penguins will still look adorable with just the face and belly details.

3-Step Three: Melt Your Candy Melts Take a small handful of white candy melts and place them in a quart-sized plastic sandwich bag. Seal the bag while removing as much air as possible. Lay the bag flat in the microwave and heat on high for 30 seconds. Remove the bag and knead it gently with your fingers to distribute the heat. The candy melts will start to soften. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, kneading between each session, until the candy is completely melted and smooth. This usually takes 1 to 2 minutes total depending on your microwave strength. If you notice any small lumps, give the bag another 10-second burst. Once melted, snip a very small corner off the bag using scissors. Test the flow on a piece of parchment paper before working on your cookies. The melted candy should come out in a thin, steady line without gushing.

4-Step Four: Attach the Penguin Belly Now comes the fun part. Take a whole white candy melt and pipe a small dot of melted candy onto one flat side. Press this candy melt onto the front center of a chocolate cookie half. The white candy melt creates the penguin’s distinctive white belly. Hold it in place for a few seconds while the melted candy begins to set. Make sure the white candy melt sits centered and upright on the dark cookie. This contrast between the dark cookie and white belly is what gives your penguin its recognizable look. Work with one penguin at a time through the remaining steps so your melted candy doesn’t harden in the bag.

5-Step Five: Add the Eyes Using your piping bag, place two small dots of melted candy just above the white belly piece. These dots will act as glue for the candy eyeballs. Take two candy eyes and gently press them into place. Position them side by side, leaving a small gap in the center for the beak. The eyes bring instant personality to your penguin. Kids love this step because they can watch their creation come to life. Make sure the eyes are level and facing forward for the cutest result. If an eye ends up crooked, you can carefully adjust it while the candy is still wet.

6-Step Six: Create the Beak and Feet For the beak, pipe a small dot of melted candy below the eyes and in the center. Take a heart sprinkle and place it point-side down onto the candy dot. The pointed end of the heart becomes the beak, while the rounded top creates a cute face shape. Next, add the feet. Pipe two dots of melted candy at the bottom of the white belly piece. Take two heart sprinkles and place them upside-down onto these dots. The rounded tops of the hearts should face outward, creating the look of webbed penguin feet. This step requires a steady hand, but the heart sprinkles do most of the work for you. Their natural shape is perfect for creating both beaks and feet without any trimming or shaping on your part.

7-Step Seven: Add the Wings If you prepared wing pieces earlier, now is the time to attach them. Pipe two dots of melted candy on each side of the penguin body, positioned around the middle. Press one wing piece onto each dot at a slight angle to create a natural look. Hold each wing in place for a few seconds until the candy begins to set. The wings add a wonderful 3D effect and make your penguins look even more complete. However, they’re completely optional. Your penguins will still be adorable with just the face and belly details. This flexibility makes the recipe easy to adapt based on your time and skill level.

8-Step Eight: Let Your Penguins Set Once all the decorations are attached, leave your Oreo penguins undisturbed for 5 to 10 minutes. This gives the melted candy time to harden completely. You can place them in the refrigerator for 2 minutes if you want to speed up the process. After the candy has hardened, your penguins are ready to serve. Handle them gently since the decorations are attached with candy rather than icing. Arrange them on a platter for a party, package them in treat bags for gifts, or simply enjoy them with your family.
