1 (12 to 14 ounce / 340 to 400 grams) can sweetened condensed milk
12 to 14 ounces (340 to 400 grams) milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional: nuts such as slivered almonds
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon salt for enhanced flavor

Instructions

1. Butter or spray an 8-inch square baking pan and optionally line it with foil or parchment paper for easier removal.
2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine half of the chopped candy bars and the sweetened condensed milk. Microwave for about 3 to 3 1/2 minutes total, stirring every 30 seconds until the mixture is smooth but allowing some bits to remain unmelted.
3. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using, then fold in the remaining chopped candy bars to keep chunks of caramel and nougat throughout the fudge.
4. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
5. Let the fudge cool and set at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 to 2 hours or until firm.
