Ingredients
– 4 pounds potatoes (russet or Yukon gold) Provides the main creamy base
– 3 cloves garlic (optional) Adds flavor depth if desired
– 1/3 cup melted salted butter Enhances richness and smoothness
– 1 cup milk or cream Helps achieve that fluffy consistency
– Salt to taste Balances and boosts flavors
– Black pepper to taste Offers a hint of heat
Instructions
1-Peel and quarter 4 pounds of potatoes, then place them in a pot of cold salted water. If you’re using garlic, add 3 cloves at this stage, bring everything to a boil, and cook uncovered for 15 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Make sure to drain them well once done.
2-Heat 1 cup of milk or cream until it’s warm, which helps it blend smoothly later on.
3-Add 1/3 cup of melted salted butter to the drained potatoes and mash them using a hand masher. Slowly pour in the heated milk or cream while you keep mashing to get that ideal creamy consistency.
4-Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then serve it hot for the best flavor and texture.
