Instructions
Preheat oven to 350Β°F (177Β°C) and prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing or lining with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, poppy seeds, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until combined, then add the oil, sour cream, milk, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla.
Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just combined. Small lumps are fine.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, loosely covering with foil halfway through to prevent over-browning.
Check doneness around 45 minutes by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice, adding milk as needed for a pourable consistency.
Drizzle over warm or cooled bread and allow to set.
