Instructions
1-Preheat the oven to 325ΒΊF. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan thoroughly to keep the cake from sticking.
2-Beat the butter and shortening at medium speed until light and creamy. Gradually add the 3 cups sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
3-Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition for a smooth batter.
4-In a separate bowl, combine 3 cups all-purpose flour, Β½ teaspoon baking powder, and β teaspoon salt.
5-Add this dry mixture alternately with 1 cup milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
6-Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ΒΌ cup key lime juice, and 1 teaspoon key lime zest. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
7-Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8-Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
9-For the glaze, whisk 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons key lime juice, and Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Pour over the cooled cake.
