🍖 Classic comfort food that brings family together around the dinner table

  • Total Time: 90 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

– 2 lbs (about 900 grams) ground beef, 80% or 85% lean

– 1 medium onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup)

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 2 large eggs

– 3 garlic cloves, minced

– 2 tablespoons ketchup

– 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

– 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs

– 1/3 cup milk

– 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, or to taste

– 1 teaspoon black pepper

– 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

– 3/4 cup ketchup

– 1 1/2 teaspoons white vinegar

– 2 tablespoons brown sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

1-: First, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup. Then, heat 1 teaspoon oil in a medium skillet over medium heat and sauté the chopped onions until softened and golden, about 5 to 7 minutes, then let them cool. In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, cooled onions, eggs, garlic, ketchup, parsley, breadcrumbs, milk, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper without overmixing to avoid a tough result.

2-: Shape the mixture into a loaf about 8 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 3 inches tall, and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes at 350°F (175°C) to get a good start on cooking. While it’s baking, prepare the glaze by mixing ketchup, white vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl.

3-: Spread the glaze evenly over the meatloaf and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Finally, let the meatloaf rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy and easy to serve. This method ensures your perfect homestyle meatloaf dinner is ready for sides like those from our loaded mashed potato casserole recipe, adding to the community vibe of shared meals.
