🌿 This recipe is ideal for a wholesome meal, offering tender and flavorful meatballs that pair beautifully with classic tzatziki or Greek yogurt.

  • Total Time: 32 minutes
  • Yield: About 20 meatballs

Ingredients

– 1 red onion, grated

– 500g (1 lb) beef mince (ground beef) or lamb

– 200g (6.5oz) pork mince (ground pork) or additional beef mince

– 2 garlic cloves, minced

– 1 cup (60g) panko breadcrumbs (or standard breadcrumbs)

– 1 large egg

– ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

– 6 large spearmint or mint leaves, finely chopped

– ½ tsp dried oregano

– 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

– ¾ tsp salt

– Black pepper (to taste)

– ½ cup white flour for Cooking

– 3 tbsp olive oil for Cooking

– Finely chopped parsley for Optional Garnish

– Tzatziki or Greek yoghurt for Serve With

Instructions

1-Combine the grated onion, beef or pork mince, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, mint, oregano, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix everything thoroughly by hand until it’s smooth and well-blended.

2-Optional: Refrigerate the mixture for 1 hour to make shaping easier and ensure the meatballs hold their shape during cooking.

3-Roll the mixture into balls using heaped tablespoons for uniform size.

4-Heat 3 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly dredge the meatballs in flour, shaking off any excess, and cook them in batches for 5 6 minutes, turning to brown all sides. As an alternative, bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes until they’re nicely browned and lightly oiled.

5-Serve the meatballs warm as a starter with tzatziki and pita bread, or as a main dish with a fresh Greek salad.
