  • Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 10-12 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more as needed)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup whole milk

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast or active dry yeast

1 large egg at room temperature

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

4 ounces (about 113 grams) full-fat cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

2/3 cup confectioners’ sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1-Warm the milk and butter to approximately 100-110°F, then whisk in the yeast. Let it sit until it’s frothy.

2-Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ones and the egg to form the dough.

3-Knead the dough for 3-5 minutes, then let it rest for 10 minutes.

4-Roll out the dough, spread with softened butter, and add the brown sugar and cinnamon filling.

5-Roll up the dough tightly and cut it into 10-12 rolls.

6-Place the rolls in a greased 9- or 10-inch pan, cover, and let them rise in a warm spot for 60-90 minutes.

7-Bake at 375°F for 24-27 minutes until golden.

8-For the icing, beat together the cream cheese, butter, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth, then spread it over the warm rolls.
