🍷 A festive take on sangria that’s refreshing and perfect for the holiday season!
🍊 Delight in the vibrant flavors of cranberry and orange to brighten your gatherings.

  • Total Time: At least 4 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Ingredients

– 1 medium orange

– 1 medium apple

– ½ to 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries

– 1 bottle (32 ounces) cranberry juice or cranberry juice cocktail

– 1 bottle (750 ml) fruity red wine

– 1 cup simple syrup

– ½ cup orange liqueur

– Ice cubes

– 2 ounces apple cider or orange juice

– thinly sliced oranges

– thinly sliced apples

– fresh cranberries

– fresh rosemary sprigs

– splash of brandy or sparkling cider

Instructions

1-First Step: Prepare Your Fruit Begin by washing the medium orange and apple thoroughly. Halve the orange and slice it thinly to maximize juice release and flavor infusion. Quarter the apple, then slice it thinly, allowing the skin and flesh to add both taste and texture. Rinse ½ to 1 cup of fresh or frozen cranberries to prepare them for the sangria.

2-Second Step: Combine Base Liquids In a large pitcher or drink dispenser, pour 32 ounces (1 bottle) of cranberry juice or cranberry juice cocktail along with one bottle (750 ml) of your chosen fruity medium-bodied red wine such as Zinfandel, Garnacha, Pinot Noir, or Malbec. This combination creates the flavorful, fruity base of your sangria.

3-Third Step: Add Sweeteners and Orange Liqueur Measure and add 1 cup of simple syrup to the mixture to balance the tartness of the fruit juices. Add ½ cup of orange liqueur, which deepens the citrus aroma and complements the orange slices. Stir gently to incorporate all liquid ingredients without breaking up the fruit.

4-Fourth Step: Add Prepared Fruits Drop the thinly sliced orange and apple along with cranberries into the pitcher. These fresh fruits infuse natural flavors as they soak, enhancing the vibrancy and complexity of the sangria. For a slightly sweeter variation, add 2 ounces of apple cider or orange juice at this stage if desired.

5-Fifth Step: Refrigerate for Flavor Melding Cover the pitcher and refrigerate the sangria for at least four hours, but ideally overnight. This chilling time allows the fruit to steep and fully infuse the wine and juice, developing deeper, harmonious flavors that are the signature of a well-made cranberry orange sangria.

6-Sixth Step: Preparing to Serve Before serving, fill glasses with ice and stir the sangria once more to combine any settled fruit. Optionally, add a splash of brandy or sparkling cider just before pouring into glasses for added flavor and effervescence. Garnish each glass with extra thinly sliced oranges, fresh cranberries, apple slices, and rosemary sprigs for a festive presentation.

🍎 Fresh cranberries mainly add visual appeal; use cranberry juice or cooked cranberry syrup for flavor.
🍷 Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of simple syrup or juice used.
