🍫 This chocolate cake recipe offers a rich and deep chocolate flavor with a delightfully moist and tender texture.
πŸŽ‚ Its simple preparation steps make it perfect for celebrations or as an everyday indulgence.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 2 cups sugar

– 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon espresso powder

– 1 cup milk (whole milk, buttermilk, almond, or coconut milk)

– 1/2 cup vegetable oil (canola oil or melted coconut oil can be substituted)

– 2 large eggs (room temperature preferred)

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

– 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

1-First: preheat the oven to 350ΒΊ F and prepare two 9-inch cake pans by spraying with baking spray, buttering, or lightly flouring them. This ensures your chocolate cake comes out without sticking and keeps that rich texture intact.

2-Next, in a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 cups sugar, 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon espresso powder until everything is well mixed.

3-Then, add 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until combined, creating a smooth base for your chocolate cake. Slowly pour in 1 cup boiling water while mixing on low speed the batter will thin out, which is key for a moist chocolate cake.

4-Divide the batter evenly between the pans, filling them about halfway to avoid overflow during baking. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely before frosting with chocolate buttercream.
