  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 3 sweet potatoes (approximately 1.5 lbs) The star of the show, providing natural sweetness and a creamy texture.

– 5 tablespoons of salted butter Adds rich flavor and helps with caramelization.

– 1 teaspoon of cinnamon Brings warm, aromatic spice to the mix.

– 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg Offers a subtle depth that enhances the overall taste.

– 1/2 cup of brown sugar Provides caramelized sweetness for that signature glaze.

– 1/4 cup of granulated sugar Boosts the sweetness level just right.

– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract Infuses a cozy, comforting aroma into the dish.

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven to 400Β°F to get things started on the right note.

2-Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into pieces that are 1/2 to 1 inch thick, cutting them in half if necessary to fit your baking dish.

3-Grease the baking dish with a bit of butter for easy cleanup and even cooking.

4-Melt the 5 tablespoons of salted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, then lower to medium-low and slowly add the 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir and taste to combine for about 3 minutes until it’s a smooth glaze.

5-Pour this mixture evenly over the sliced sweet potatoes in the dish.

6-Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes to soften them up.

7-Remove the foil, give the sweet potatoes a gentle stir, crank the oven up to 425Β°F, and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes to get that caramelized finish.

8-Let the dish cool slightly before serving it warm, so the flavors settle in nicely.
