Instructions
1-Preheat your oven: to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and prepare two 8-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them for easy release.
2-In a large bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder to blend the dry ingredients evenly.
3-In another bowl, mix 1/2 cup neutral oil with 1 cup sugar until well combined, then add 2 lightly beaten eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, blending thoroughly.
4-Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons buttermilk, and stir just until everything comes together.
5-Pour the batter evenly into the pans and tap lightly to remove air bubbles before baking for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick test shows itβs done.
6-Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then move them to wire racks to cool completely.
7-For the frosting, beat 8 ounces cold cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar until smooth, then mix in 2/3 cup cold heavy cream, a pinch of sea salt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until fluffy.
8-Once cooled, frost the layers and add sprinkles and candles for a festive touch.
