🍤 Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos combine crispy, tender shrimp with a creamy and spicy dynamite sauce for a flavorful bite.
🌮 This easy-to-make dish offers a perfect balance of textures and bold tastes, ideal for taco lovers craving a spicy twist.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8-12 tacos

Ingredients

– 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails removed

– 1/2 cup buttermilk

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

– 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

– 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

– 3/4 cup corn starch

– Peanut oil or canola oil for frying

– 1/2 cup mayonnaise for the sauce

– 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce for the sauce

– 3 teaspoons sriracha (or to taste) for the sauce

– 8 to 12 small white corn tortillas for taco toppings

– 3 cups purple or green cabbage thinly sliced for taco toppings

– 1 medium tomato diced for taco toppings

– 1/4 cup cilantro coarsely chopped for taco toppings

Instructions

1-Prepare the shrimp: Prepare the shrimp by cleaning, peeling, and deveining them if necessary. Pat shrimp dry for optimal coating. Preheat oil to 350°F for frying or preheat oven to 400°F for baking.

2-Mix panko breadcrumbs and seasonings: Mix panko breadcrumbs and seasonings in a shallow bowl. Coat each shrimp evenly with the Bang Bang sauce, then dredge through the breadcrumbs to ensure a crispy crust.

3-Fry shrimp in batches: Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. For baking, spread shrimp on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.

4-Warm tortillas: Warm tortillas on a skillet or microwave until pliable. Thinly slice cabbage and chop cilantro.

5-Assemble the tacos: Assemble the tacos by layering cabbage, crispy shrimp, and a drizzle of Bang Bang sauce. Garnish with cilantro and a squeeze of lime for added zest.

6-Serve immediately: Serve immediately to enjoy the crunch and vibrant flavors. For dietary adaptations, consider substituting shrimp or using gluten-free tortillas as needed.

Notes

🍤 Use large raw shrimp for best texture; pre-peeled shrimp can save prep time.
🥛 Marinate shrimp in buttermilk to tenderize and help corn starch adhere for crispiness.
🌡️ Maintain oil temperature at 375°F during frying to keep shrimp crispy and prevent excessive oil absorption.
