– ¼ tsp salt

– 2 tbsp butter (cubed)

– 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

1-First Step: Mix 2 ½ cups flour and 1 tsp salt in a bowl. Cut in 1 cup cold cubed butter with a pastry blender until pea-sized crumbs form. Sprinkle 6-8 tbsp ice water gradually, stirring until dough holds together. Divide into two discs, wrap, and chill 1 hour.

2-Second Step: Roll one disc on a floured surface to a 12-inch circle. Gently fit into a 9-inch pie plate, trim edges, and chill. Roll second disc for top crust or lattice.

3-Third Step: Peel, core, and slice 6-8 apples into ¼-inch pieces (about 8 cups). Toss with ¾ cup granulated sugar, 2 tbsp lemon juice, ¼ cup brown sugar, 3 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp nutmeg, and ¼ tsp salt. Let sit 10 minutes to release juices.

4-Fourth Step: Spoon filling into bottom crust. Dot with 2 tbsp cubed butter. Top with second crust, seal edges by crimping, and cut vents or weave lattice for an apple pie recipe with lattice top.
