🍟 Create homemade, crispy French fries using an air fryer with less oil for a healthier alternative to deep-frying!
🍟 Perfect for snacking or as a side dish, these fries are easy to make and customizable to your preferred flavors.

  • Total Time: 30 to 60 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 large russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold potatoes), sliced into 1/4-inch sticks
1 to 3 tablespoons olive oil (or any high smoke point oil like vegetable or canola oil)
Salt to taste
Optional seasonings: fresh herbs, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
Optional dips: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, aioli, BBQ sauce, ranch, cheese sauce

Instructions

1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F – 380°F (190°C – 193°C), which typically takes 2-3 minutes.
2. Thoroughly wash and scrub potatoes, then slice into 1/4-inch sticks.
3. (Optional) Soak potato sticks in cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour to remove excess starch. Drain and dry them thoroughly.
4. Toss the dried potato sticks with olive oil and salt. Add any desired seasonings.
5. Place the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
6. Cook for 12 to 18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
7. Check fries frequently after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
8. Keep cooked fries warm on a cooling rack over a baking sheet in a warm oven, or reheat them in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes before serving.
