Ingredients
1 hoagie bun or ciabatta roll, about 6 inches long
1 tablespoon garlic basil pesto
4 slices deli ham (or turkey breast/chicken cold cuts as alternatives)
4 slices hard salami (or 1 slice salami plus 1 slice cracked black pepper salami)
8 small slices pepperoni (including options like turkey pepperoni)
4 slices mozzarella cheese (fresh or sliced; provolone can also be substituted)
1 tablespoon sun-dried tomatoes (optional)
Slices of red onion
Slices of ripe red tomato
Crisp lettuce leaves
Pepperoncini slices
Sliced black olives
Red wine vinegar and olive oil for drizzling
Salt, pepper, and dried oregano to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (about 150°C).
2. Cut the hoagie or ciabatta roll in half, keeping one side attached if preferred, and lay it open-faced on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper (or toast the bread halves separately for extra crispness).
3. Spread about 1/2 tablespoon of basil pesto on each inside half of the bread.
4. Layer the ham, salami, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese evenly over the bread. Optionally, add sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
5. Bake or toast the sandwich open-faced for about 10 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese has melted. For ciabatta rolls, toasting both sides prior to assembly can enhance crispness.
6. Remove from oven and top with red onion slices, tomato, lettuce, pepperoncini, black olives, or any preferred fresh vegetables for crunch and freshness.
7. Drizzle red wine vinegar and olive oil over the fillings for a bright and tangy flavor.
8. Season with salt, pepper, and dried oregano to taste.
9. Fold the sandwich carefully and serve warm.

🥪 Use deli meats you already have available; turkey or chicken make good pork alternatives.
🧄 Red onions add mild sweetness and sharpness, while black olives provide a sweeter, richer taste compared to green olives.
🌿 Drizzling red wine vinegar and olive oil elevates the flavors and balances the richness of the meats and cheese.
