  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

45 family-size black tea bags
6 cups water (divided: 2 cups for brewing tea, 4 cups cold water)
4 cups ripe strawberries (about 1 cup of juice when pureed and strained)
1 Β½ cups granulated sugar
ΒΌ teaspoon baking soda (optional, to reduce bitterness)
Frozen or fresh strawberries and mint for optional garnish
Optional: 2 teaspoons strawberry extract or Β½ cup fresh lemon juice for added flavor

Instructions

1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot or microwave. Remove from heat and steep tea bags for 10 minutes, then discard the tea bags. Stir in ΒΌ teaspoon baking soda if using, to help reduce any bitterness.
2. Dice strawberries and puree them in a food processor or blender. Strain the puree through a fine mesh strainer to extract about 1 cup of strawberry juice, discarding the seeds and pulp.
3. In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea, strawberry juice, and granulated sugar. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
4. Add 4 cups of cold water and mix well. Taste and adjust sweetness or add strawberry extract or lemon juice if desired.
5. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
6. Serve over ice; frozen strawberries can be used instead of ice cubes to keep the drink cold without diluting flavor. Garnish with fresh strawberries or mint as preferred.

Notes

🍹 Use large, ripe, and juicy strawberries for a bold, fresh strawberry flavor; underripe berries can weaken the taste.
πŸ‹ Adding a pinch of baking soda can keep the tea crisp by neutralizing bitterness from tannins or over-steeping.
🧊 Frozen strawberries make excellent ice cubes to chill the tea without watering it down.
