  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 6

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup (8 ounces) cream cheese, at room temperature
1/4 cup (5560 grams) sour cream (can be substituted with Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
1/4 cup (60 grams) mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (plus additional lemon zest or juice to taste if desired)
2 tablespoons drained capers (rinsed to reduce saltiness) or 1 teaspoon capers (optional)
4 to 7 ounces (120200 grams) smoked salmon, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons fresh chopped dill (can be increased to 1/4 cup for more flavor)
2 tablespoons fresh chopped chives or scallions
1/2 garlic clove, minced (optional for added depth)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, capers, and optionally minced garlic. Pulse until mostly smooth but avoid over-blending to maintain texture.
2. Add smoked salmon, dill, and chives; pulse briefly to finely chop the salmon and blend ingredients well while preserving some visible pieces. Scrape bowl sides as needed.
3. Taste and adjust salt, pepper, and lemon juice if necessary.
4. Transfer to a serving bowl and let sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving to enhance flavor and soften the texture.
5. Serve with bagel chips, crackers, melba toasts, or homemade crostinis.

Notes

🧂 Rinse capers before use to reduce excess salt.
🍋 Bring the dip to room temperature after refrigeration to improve creaminess, as it firms up when cold.
🕒 Prepare the dip up to two days ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator; flavors tend to mellow and deepen overnight.
