Ingredients
6 hot dog buns (top sliced preferred)
6 hot dogs (skinless, beef, pork, or preferred type)
3 cups shredded cheese mix (Monterey Jack and cheddar combined)
6 tablespoons soft butter (for brushing buns)
Optional: pickles or pickled jalapenos, seasonings like garlic powder or smoked paprika
Instructions
1. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
2. Flatten each hot dog bun with a rolling pin and spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the outside of each bun.
3. Sprinkle each bun with one-third cup of shredded cheese.
4. Score the hot dogs diagonally if desired, then slice each lengthwise, keeping them connected to grill flat.
5. Place the prepared buns and hot dogs in the air fryer basket. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melty and the buns are golden brown.
6. Add the hot dogs to one side of each bun, top with additional shredded cheese and optional toppings like pickles or jalapenos.
7. Close the bun and air fry for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and a crispy cheese crust forms.
8. Serve immediately with your choice of ketchup, mustard, or dipping sauces.
